MarketWatch’s check test program appeared to find an issue with the CDA CI560WH tumble drier; the condensation efficiency was measured lower than the claimed figure, by more than the tolerance limit of 6%. No issues were seen with any other energy label declarations.
A single full compliance test was carried out to see if the finding was confirmed.
Full testing confirmed the check test finding with the condensation efficiency measured 9.4% lower (click for larger image)
CDA responded to the project’s communication. They reported that they had sought the advice of the UK Market Surveillance Authority, the NMRO and the claim made was based on figures seen in their own internal testing, which had consisted of models achieving a value closer to 70%.
However, CDA also reported that no further production of this model was taking place. Therefore MarketWatch did not pursue any further lab testing, but agreed amendment of the product fiche proposed by CDA for models already in the supply chain. However, this has not yet been confirmed to have taken place by CDA.
